The Programme and Media Cell at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex was established in 2010, marking a significant milestone in the institutional efforts to professionally promote the ideology and vision of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal. Prior to this initiative, no organized platform or mechanism existed within the Aiwan to systematically plan, document, or disseminate Iqbal’s philosophy to the wider public. The formation of this cell addressed a longstanding gap in effectively communicating Iqbal’s intellectual heritage, especially in the context of modern media and cultural engagement.
The core objective of the Programme and Media Cell is to propagate, promote, and preserve the thought, philosophy, and universal message of Allama Iqbal in a dynamic and professional manner. The cell functions as the central planning and coordination unit for events and media-related activities, ensuring that the messages emerging from the Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex reach diverse audiences—students, scholars, researchers, and the general public.
The Programme and Media Cell plays a vital role in organizing a variety of cultural, educational, and intellectual activities throughout the year. One of its key contributions is the regular organization of seminars, symposia, and scholarly meetings, bringing together experts and thinkers to reflect on various dimensions of Iqbal’s thought. These sessions often include discussions on Iqbal’s role in the Pakistan Movement, Islamic thought, spiritual philosophy, and the relevance of his ideas in the contemporary world.
In addition to academic events, the cell also coordinates a fortnightly session titled “Khawateen Bazm-e-Iqbal”, dedicated to engaging women in the exploration and dissemination of Iqbal’s poetry and ideology. This inclusive initiative has been widely appreciated for providing a platform where women can reflect on Iqbal’s ideas and contribute through recitations, critical discussions, and creative presentations.
Another important focus of the Programme and Media Cell is youth engagement. The Cell arranges regular educational visits for students from schools, colleges, and universities to the Aiwan-e-Iqbal Complex. These visits are often enriched with interactive activities such as painting exhibitions, speech competitions, recitation of “Kalam-e-Iqbal,” and “Bait Bazi” contests. These events not only deepen students’ understanding of Iqbal’s poetry and philosophy but also foster creativity, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation among young minds.
